How’s 2023 so far? I’m slowly getting some mom How’s 2023 so far? I’m slowly getting some momentum. Making some travel plans. Making lists. Thinking about what I want to share with you all this year. What I want to create. I want to start sharing about books I’ve read about wine and travel. Maybe a few others as well. I want to bring back my live chats. Let me know what you’d like to see, read, drink .. yeah I’m gonna do a wine travel series. Where do you want to go drink wine?!
Next month I will explore some wines from Abruzzo , Asti, and the Veneto.

I’d like to strengthen my community in 2023.
Simple — right? Whether its taking a walk, taki Simple — right?
Whether its taking a walk, taking photos, traveling but it could be in my own neighborhood, color — makes me happy.
What about you?
Last night I led a group of about 10 wine enthusia Last night I led a group of about 10 wine enthusiasts thru a tasting of Italian wines from the Veneto to Piedmont down to Tuscany and back to Veneto. A great itinerary! My budget was 30 dollars or less per bottle.

We started with a delicious Prosecco Valdobiadenne from @ninofranco1919 an excellent producer notes of orange blossom and white peach elevated these bubbles. FYI I wrote a Prosecco 411 for @wine_365 🥂

The next region which I visited in 2013 Oltrepo Pavese and this fruit forward and fresh Pinot Grigio. I honestly think this one will change your mind about Pinot Grigio. Light and crisp.

The Dolcetto d’Alba was fantastic w/ grippier tannins than I expected. would be great with the hamburger
🍷 Dolcetto is a wine that you don’t see often on menus and I don’t know why it’s really a delightful red option beautiful color.

The Nebiolo from @gdvajra_barolo was a pale and easy drinking wine that seemed to be a big hit with the group. The producer is also organic. Soft fruit forward and round tannins. It reminded me of my time in Piedmont with @meetpiemonte tours. They took me to several producers that gave me a good overview of what the #Langhe is capable of outside Barolo and Barbaresco.🍷

@montepelosowines — a great red blend and my god what a deal compared to most super Tuscans. Go buy some now. Fruity red cherries spicy aromas, in the mouth a taste of blackberries. 🍷

we finished with this gorgeous Valpolicellas Ripaso that’s you could hold for a few years. To me this is a good wine but to lovers of robust and complex red wines it’s a let’s drink it now wine! Cin cin to that! I’ve not had a lot of Valpolicella wine as an adult until a recent visit to the Veneto.

I love hosting tasting events and introducing people to wines they’ve never tried or maybe never heard of before. I always learn a lot too.

I’m going to visit a new Italian wine region later this year. I’ve decided that since I already have so much time and energy invested in Italy I may as well go all the way! I will of course share my wine travel finds with you!
Let me know if there’s a variety or region you’re curious about. And if you want to taste together we can do that too.
From Italy to Portugal and back wine has taken me From Italy to Portugal and back wine has taken me to many happy places.

Bardolino on Lake Garda, producing light and juicy red wines and dry rose wine from Corvina grapes.
Asolo in the Veneto, a land of magical mountain Prosecco.
Lisbon to the Tejo region for delicious Arinto and Red blends. And these are only a few of the wines I tasted last year. 🥂

I love travel and organizing my travels around wine regions is my jam. If you have any questions just send me a message!
🥂
I would not hesitate to recommend any of these wines. Many you can get in the USA.
🥂

Yes, even Christmas will come and go and we may have an idea of what we think it should be but remember is it really a state of mind and then, when things don’t go as planned it’s much easier to not be bothered.

Photo taken in 2019 at the House of a 1000 Santas. A cool display that happens once a year until … it doesn’t.

Merry Christmas everyone

I’m not much for Christmas as a day. I believe w I’m not much for Christmas as a day. I believe we should truly keep Christmas all year. But I do love the decorations, the markets and the lights! At this solstice time it’s wonderful to have the lights to make the long cold nights brighter. Jollier. I went to San Antonio especially to see the lights. It’s a fun and easy thing to do as a solo traveler. I highly recommend you do too!
