Hey there. Just read your online article about driving the 1. My wife & I are planning on driving from Monterey to San Clemente the first part of March. From what I have seen on Google Maps, from Santa Barbara down is maybe not as scenic? Would love your input. Thank you.
Hi , we are visiting san francisco from dublin Ireland , we have this trip booked awhile , we had planned to drive the pacific coast to LA but due to recent landslide in the big sur it’s not possible. I am just looking for some advise on how far we can drive down the coast and what will we get to see before turning inland or is it a a case of turning back and doing the same drive, trying to make the most out of this trip as I have organized it for 5 other people, look forward to hearing from you and your advise is greatly appreciated thanks a mil, Donna
Hello Donna, If you ead the article you’ll see at the top it has been updated with two links that give information about the road closures with updates.
I suggest driving to Cambria, visit Hearst Castle then go east to Paso Robles and do some wine tasting there before heading north to avoid the road closures in Big Sur. I’m not sure which Highway will take you over to Carmel and Monterey but I’m sure you can google that. From there you should be able to continue north to San Francisco. The tourism offices are always a good resource as well. Have a great trip.
