Think it doesn’t get cold in Dallas because Dallas is in Texas, and Texas is the south? Wrong. It can get bitter cold as it did this weekend – 18 degrees! So if you’re planning a visit to the Dallas area check the forecast and pack your polar fleece, there’s a good chance you’ll need it.
Another thing you need to know, it doesn’t snow: it rains, sleets and then freezes. We don’t do cold weather here in Big D so just plan to stay a while if you happen to visit during an ice storm – DFW International Airport will likely shut down.
Tired of sitting inside after almost two days I ventured out in my neighborhood for a short walk and to take some photos. Many of the trees still had colorful fall foliage when this storm hit. Now, encased in ice, the colors seem magnified. The ice is pretty, but treacherous, and even walking can be dangerous. I’m tired of it now.
Welcome to Dallas.
