Postcard: Sailing, Key West

Sunset in Key West, Florida @PennySadler

Who doesn’t love a beautiful sunset? Undoubtedly, one of the best places in the US to watch the sunset is Key West, Florida. Surrounded by water on all sides, it’s also the southern most point in the continental United States. Believe it or not, it was once the largest city in Florida!

If you’re in Key West THE place to watch the sunset is Mallory Square. I didn’t want to go to Mallory Square because not only is that the spot where everyone else goes, but it’s also quite a scene where musicians, street artists, jugglers, and entertainers of all sorts congregate every night from 6:00 – 9:00 pm Eastern standard time. I don’t love crowds, but was told quite clearly when I asked, “Where else can we watch the sunset?”
“The sun sets here.”

The next time I’m there I think I’m going to charter one of those sail boats!
