I’m a frequent traveler to Italy and one of the reasons I love it is because life is lived outside. Families, friends, lovers – all can be observed walking, talking eating and enjoying life – outdoors.
This makes Italy a great place for street photography – one of my favorite forms of photography. The odds of capturing an image that will stop time and communicate the essence of the moment are a lot greater when you have plenty of good subjects to photograph.
In Italy great subject matter seems to be just about everywhere you turn. Just sit in a piazza long enough, or stand outside a church and watch the people go by, and eventually something or someone will cause you to run after them with your camera. It’s a given.
I noticed when I put this collection of photos together there were no women. I don’t know if Italian men talk on their cellphones more than women do? Or maybe women just move faster than men?
