Cell phones – Italian Style

Cell phones Italian style @PennySadler 2012

I’m a frequent traveler to Italy and one of the reasons I love it is because life is lived outside. Families, friends, lovers – all can be observed walking, talking eating and enjoying life – outdoors.

This makes Italy a great place for street photography – one of my favorite forms of photography. The odds of capturing an image that will stop time and communicate the essence of the moment are a lot greater when you have plenty of good subjects to photograph.

In Italy great subject matter seems to be just about everywhere you turn. Just sit in a piazza long enough, or stand outside a church and watch the people go by, and eventually something or someone will cause you to run after them with your camera. It’s a given.

I noticed when I put this collection of photos together there were no women. I don’t know if Italian men talk on their cellphones more than women do? Or maybe women just move faster than men?

This is a fun collection of photos. Isn’t it funny the things we notice when we travel. And I wouldn’t fit in Italy since I don’t own a cell phone. I know, I’m crazy. But it is one way I save money to travel more. This is the second post I’ve seen today on Italy. I really need to go!

I highly recommend Italy. And you don’t need a cellphone. 🙂
When I’m traveling I buy a local phone and use it only for texting with people I want to connect with in Italy. There are ways it can be very inexpensive. But I commend you for not having a phone. Rare human indeed!

I like your observation about people in Italy living their lives outdoors. Your pictures are great! And I see the “more” button at work 🙂
