A Behind The Scenes Fashion Tour of Florence

A Behind The Scenes Fashion Tour of Florence

Fashion and Italy have long been synonymous. Most people think of Milan when considering Italian fashion, however if you seek quality Italian leather goods, fine gold jewelry, beautiful silk textiles, and hand crafted perfumes, papers, and more, Florence is the place to be. One of Italy’s most popular tourist destinations, Florence offers natural beauty, art, rich architecture, and a deep history, including in the world of fashion. It makes sense! After all, Florence is the home of the Italian Renaissance. Why wouldn’t it also be a haven for fashionistas?   Many fashion houses began in Florence. In 1927, Salvatore Ferragamo opened his flagship store, which still exists in the Palazzo Spini Feroni, where you will also find a shoe museum (swoon!). Gucci handbags are some of the most famous in the world, and began in Florence. Textiles have strong roots in the city, as well. Since the 1960s, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli have designed bright and bold printed fabrics that have taken the world by storm. I remember...

Ugobags: Luggage As Unique As You Are

Ugobags: Luggage As Unique As You Are

Yes it’s true: I really do travel with carryon luggage. Now that I have that out of the way, I’ve got a story and a product to share with you. Today I worked with one of the biggest names in the travel and aviation industry, Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin Airlines. Needless to say, I wanted to do everything possible to make a good first impression. Perhaps it was fitting that for this job (I’m a professional makeup artist), I packed my stylish new Ugobags carry-on with all the tools I needed to make Mr. Branson camera ready … virgin bag (never used) taken to a job for Virgin Airlines…I like the metaphor, anyway. A little over a week ago Ugobags launched their campaign to fund this new company on Kickstarter. I am so excited to be able to review this bag. Since my bag is brand spanking new, it hasn’t yet been tried in the overhead bin. Nor has it been shoved under a seat, or wheeled down...

What To Pack For A Trip To Sydney, Australia

What To Pack For A Trip To Sydney, Australia

With a mix of sophisticated culture, casual outdoor atmosphere, and some of the best beaches in the world, a holiday to Australia in 2014 should include a visit to Sydney, the largest and oldest city in Australia. Sydney, Australia is an international port city on the Pacific Ocean. It’s a top destination in Australia, receiving more than ten millions tourists in 2012. Like most large port cities, Sydney is a mix of old and new, metropolitan and multicultural. You can enjoy a lazy day on the beach soaking up some UVA rays or surfing, to a night at the opera house and dinner at a Michelin five star restaurant. It’s a wonderful city for a quick weekend break or longer, and no matter how much time you spend there, you can make the most of it by being prepared for the climate and the wide variety of activities available. The weather is generally temperate, so think mainly warm weather clothing and gear, but the winter can be quite cold,...

What Goes in My Carry-on

What Goes in My Carry-on

As a professional makeup artist and a wannabe frequent flier, I’m often asked what are my “go to” beauty products for travel.  I’ve written a number of guest posts on this topic as well as a more in depth story last summer on organizing your wardrobe to fit into one carry-on. In this news segment for CW33, I put together a variety of products (including a few unisex items) that I like to keep in my carry-on bag. I carry most of these things with me whether I’m on a three hour flight to Los Angeles, or a twelve hour flight to Italy. If you’re interested in why I think looking great while traveling is important read, Can Your Clothes Make the...

How To Pack Carry-on Style for a Backpacking Trip

How To Pack Carry-on Style for a Backpacking Trip

by Alexandra Jimenez Earlier this year I wrote a post on how to travel with one carry-on. By carry-on, I am referring to a rolling bag, not a backpack, which could also be carried on. I’m a “carry-on” kind of girl. However, realizing that not everyone is, I am pleased to post this article written by Alexandra Jimenez of the blog, Travel Fashion Girl. As a long term backpacker, I didn’t think it was possible to travel for extended periods of time using a carry-on size bag. However, due to airline restrictions, weight, and comfort, I decided I was ready for a challenge. The result: I absolutely love my new compact travel style! I found that because I wanted to downsize my backpack, my packing had to be more strategic. To maximize the space within your bag, here are a few tips that will help you keep organized and pack light. Choose Appropriate Clothing Many times travelers are stumped when traveling to varying climates. It’s hard to pack efficiently...
